In his opening note, Rajendra Pawar, Chairman, NASSCOM said, “It is not just the simple models of business which we started the industry with, that are propelling growth. There’s a substantial amount of internal change, and (that’s why) the theme for this year’s event is hyperspecialzation.” He opined that M&As are an example of this change that made huge impact on the ongoing IT services scenario with M&As increasing 77 percent in the last two years. He later spoke of disruptive technologies like Cloud and Virtualization that are also causing change. He focused on the need of adaptive measures to grasp the oppurtunity for market survival. He gave a brief note on how market space is changing per second and user'e expectations are crossing the average. “The industry is becoming more global with 5 – 6 percent of companies having their workforce outside (India). The diversification of the industry is becoming richer and we see that as a necessity for growth in the future,” said Pawar. “In terms of employment we added 2.3 lakh jobs contributing to a total workforce of 2.8 million.” Apart from hyperspecialization, key topics that would be discussed in NILF-2012 are Global Uncertainties, Leadership in Uncertain Times and Emerging Opportunities. Sharing his views, Som Mittal, President, NASSCOM said, “NILF is a platform where global leaders congregate every year to discuss key changes in the industry, opportunities ahead, creating partnerships and addressing challenges. For us at NASSCOM, the discussions at this forum provide the strategic thrust and direction for our activities to enable the industry’s growth and development.” The Union Minister for Communications and Technology, Mr Kapil Sibal, today categorically said that the Government will not censor the social media. “No Government in India wants to ever censor the social media. we need to make sure that everybody obeys the laws of the country. If the print media and visual media obey the laws, the social media can also obey the laws," he said at the inaugural ceremony of the 20th India Leadership Forum organised by Nasscom. Some of the leading speakers at NILF 2012 are Pranav Mistry (MIT), Venkatesh Prasad (Ford), Darcy Antonellis (Warner Brothers), Padmasree Warrior (Cisco systems) and many more. |
