The year 2011 was nothing less than interesting. It was marked by a grim economic scenario and consequent uncertainties that surrounded the industry. Buyer expectations were skyrocketing and this ensured that service providers were always on their toes.
The type of buyer-provider relationships also saw a significant shift and moved on to more strategic relationships that were not just aimed at cost savings but value addition and productivity enhancements. Cloud computing, a trend that has been there for sometime, reinforced its significance last year and grabbed huge amount of attention. Other trends like enterprise mobility, increased focus on domain expertize, R&D, automation and so on continued to redefine the ITO and BPO segments. Newer geographies were explored as the next way of attaining cost savings and competitive advantages.
In short it was an year that saw transformations-big and small. Almost all areas of outsourcing witnessed changes that we believe are here to stay. Some of the 2011 trends are expected to find their way into 2012 as well.
